Aashish Bhagwath
The name is Aashish Bhagwath. I like learning about the brain. My research interests are diverse, but I’m shifting towards neuroscience. Being born in Manipal and raised in Bangalore, the shift away from a bustling, chaotic metropolitan city was honestly a refreshing experience for me. My goal is to become a neuroscience professor, and you can always have a chat with me about the central nervous system over a cup of chai.

Ananyaa Sahai
Hiii! I am Ananyaa… I love doing alot (like seriously, ALOT) of things but mostly, I’m someone who lives quietly inside questions. I care about growth more than perfection. I find comfort in questioning, and gently untangling complexities (be it in numerical data, behaviour, myself or just my embroidery threads). Currently I’m teaching myself (and those around me) discipline and kindness towards oneself can coexist. Do reach out to me if you just wanna talk or if you want someone to silently hangout with.

Harinkhede Rujha Togesh
Hello all, I am Rujha from Gondia, Maharashtra, with a background in Psychology.
Once during a Vipassana retreat, my biggest struggle was shifting from a very tangled, thought-filled state to simply being aware—just an observer. It left me wondering where all those thoughts were coming from. Now it feels good to know that I am on my way to exploring this question more deeply. In my first year of this course, marking my very first professional step – understanding Consciousness. Let’s see how far I can go, with the goal of decoding the secrets of nature and mind.

Himanshi Pande
Hello, I’m Himanshi! I was born in Delhi, grew up in Chennai, and also call Lucknow home. After completing my bachelor’s in psychology and philosophy at Jesus and Mary College, DU, I developed an inclination towards social cognition and affective neuroscience – areas I hope to explore in the near future. Outside of the classroom, you will always find me with freshly brewed (iced!) coffee in one hand, while I pet campus dogs with the other. Let’s talk about our favourite artists, latest reads, dessert recipes and everything in between!

Isha Palit
Hey there, Isha this side. I was born and raised in Siliguri, yes! Amidst the hills of North Bengal. I completed my Bachelor’s in Psychology alongside giving multiple attempts at NEET(failure stories are very important to be mentioned). My personal experiences with trauma and depression have shaped my inclination to understand mental health not just from a psychological lens, but from a cognitive and neuroscientific perspective as well. I eventually aim to work in this field academically. I love watching movies(esp. Crime thrillers), reading fiction ranging from Crime to Spice of life genres, I also take a keen interest in Hindu Mythology. Apart from that, cooking feels like therapy to me and music is a constant companion. On Campus you can usually find me doing a little “badmashi” with my friends. I also have an innate ability to switch from brain rot conversations to philosophical discussions over a cup of chai!

Jatin Kumar
Hi, I am Jatin from Delhi. I began studying psychology during my Bachelor’s quite literally under an open sky through distance learning where the classroom had no walls and attention refused to behave. When one sits beneath the sky, attention tends to scatter, resting briefly on everything at once, blah! blah! Yes they call it Inattention . For the first time, my academic journey unfolded beneath a roof within the CBCS. My research interest lies in exploring the mysteries of attention and what we are quick to call inattention. If your attention happens to catch me somewhere under the sky, perhaps we can repay it with a cup of tea.

Praveen Kumar Azad
Hi, I’m Praveen. I was born in Patiala, Punjab, my family is from Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, and I’ve grown up across different parts of India—so when people try to place me, they often end up confused. Moving through diverse cultures early on has made me adaptable, deeply curious, and comfortable in almost any environment; at this point, very little shocks me anymore . I began in Mechanical Engineering at Delhi Technological University, where constant engagement in small projects across technology, social work and entrepreneurship gradually shifted my focus from machines to minds. That curiosity led me through MA in philosophy from DU and eventually into Cognitive Science. I’m currently pursuing my M.Sc. in Cognitive Science (CBCS, Allahabad), exploring memory, attention, and adaptive intelligence, with the long-term aim of building meaningful bridges between research and real-world impact.

Sahil Ali
I am a good person, they say I am the goodest they have ever seen, I swear. Apart from that i have been trained as a mathematician for half a decade and somehow still ducks. I believe in the soul of places and CBCS has a soul that makes you wonder about questions that are far-far beyond our petty little lives. To me knowledge is to make useful fuzzy categories that we employ to claim the little parts of what evades all descriptions. My approach towards cognition is that the mind cannot be viewed independently from the lives we live, and thus we may use some “big words” for clinical utility or scientific rigour, but to put the essence of life in firing of neurons seems repulsive, if not blasphemy! In the meantime I am working on a super-ultimate cosmic laser-like device to poke a hole in the moon to make it look like a donut.

Sanya Avinash Mishra
Hi, I am Sanya. I believe that grace resides in creativity, and creativity resides in all domains. Growing up, my love for singing, painting, and writing poetry coincided with my curiosity for science. So, I pursued the creative attempt to better understand why we are the way we are, through a systematic, scientific lens. My first step was a Bachelors in Applied Psychology at NMIMS, Navi Mumbai. There, my passion for mental health advocacy evolved into a purpose—to conduct interdisciplinary research that benefits both the scientific community and the broader public—because psychology and the study of mind are not merely pertinent to clinics, but also in our daily lives. While my exact area of interest currently remains a research gap in my mental literature, I aim to explore as many fields as I possibly can in these two wonderful years!

Arundhati Singh
Born in Kanpur (we played a key role in the 1857 Mutiny, it is not a chhota-mota sheher, okay? Much like CogSci, interdisciplinary forces paved the way there as well!), brought up in Lucknow (unsure about ‘tehzeeb’ but I did develop a deep romanticisation of life and knowledge as a child), completed my under-graduation in Physics from Delhi (where I began to see parallels between the basic principles of the world’s ‘outside’ and ‘inside’ sciences.)
I could throw in a few big terms outlining the key areas I am currently interested in [ChatGPT for the win!], but trust me, having completed an entire semester in this course, I tend to find novel topics to be grappled by every week (I was, however, initially and still am intrigued by computational neuroscience, moral decision-making, embodied cognition, trauma, certain personality & mood disorders, group cognition, epistemology & consciousness, as well as the cognition behind supposed esoteric/meditative experiences.)
Outside academia, I have always enjoyed theatre, singing (Indian Classical), public speaking & debates, sketching, mathematics, philosophy, and theology. I love good films (doesn’t everybody?), both tea and coffee (do we have to choose one?), anime, and have watched The Office too many times by now. Lately, I have been *trying* to learn how to cook as well as to re-instill my reading habit. I adore all animals (yes, even buffalos and insects fascinate me) and have a pretty cool plant family in my hostel room. Feel free to drop by!

Joshua Lavy
I was born and raised in Chennai. Even during my schooling, human biology has always intrigued me. I won’t lie—Dr. Shepherd (Grey’s Anatomy) played a role in my interest in neuro that’s probably bigger than I care to admit. While I’ve explored many scientific fields, neurobiology has always been the one that really captivated me.
I had the opportunity to work closely with neurodivergent children, particularly those with ASD and ADHD. These experiences inspired me to contribute to this field, no matter how small the impact may be.
After my Bachelors in Psychology, Cognitive Science felt like a natural progression for me, allowing me to explore multiple domains simultaneously—a challenge I find both fascinating and fulfilling. I deeply appreciate the beautifully complex nature of this field and am motivated to explore further into it while contributing meaningfully to our understanding of the human mind.
Outside of academics, my interests include music, unwinding with a good movie or series, and experimenting in the kitchen (with occasional success).

Parth Mohanty
I was born in Odisha, but brought up entirely in Delhi. I have an M.A in Linguistics from JNU. Linguistics exposed me to the intricacies of the language framework but I wanted a more neuroscientific approach towards how language functioned in the brain. I want to look into cognition, language, emotion and brain, perhaps even in special populations such as autistic or psychopathic or personality disordered populations, by utilizing different fields’ knowledge, which makes cognitive science the ideal target course and CBCS as the ideal place for it due to the neuroscience-heavy aspect. In my free time, I like to drink coffee, watch anime, listen to music, read either analytical psychology, philosophy, literature or toxicology or whatever has my caught my interest on that day. I particularly admire Emerson and Nietzsche in their philosophical takes of Self-Reliance and Transcendence, as a confluence, and Carl Jung in the realm of philosophical analytical psychology.

Pathik Mondal
I’m from ‘Rarh Bangla’, Birbhum, a part of West Bengal where people are linguistically, behaviorally diverse as well as emotionally too much connected. Since my childhood, this diversity amazed me.
I completed my bachelors from the University of Burdwan in Human Physiology (H). During my UG studies I was inspired by my professor to unreveal the mystery of the nervous system, specifically higher intellectual functions but I halted when the ‘mind’ came in these contexts. So, I started my journey as a drop of dew in this good morrow. My interest carries me in the fields of Neuroinformatics, Computational Neuroscience, Neuroendocrine homeostasis, Neurolinguistics & Neurological disorders. Switching the field from ‘Physio’ to ‘Psycho’ allows me to delve deep into human behavior, perceptions for individual aspects which help me to understand Neurodiversity .
I try to interact with people from various regions. In my leisure, I play a little, read a lot, and listen to ‘baul’. To me, the journey of life is a novel, and to lay under a chirping tree is an ode. I may not sleep, I’m a journeyer, so is my name.
